Ben S. Hyland is a BAFTA Rocliffe winning comedy writer/director.

​

Ben won the 2023 BAFTA Rocliffe Comedy feature competition with his script, JUMPERS. In the same year he won the British Comedy Guide Spring Sitcom writing competition with his pilot script, THE TWINS. He was also selected to become a member of BAFTA CONNECT. 

​

His feature film, MY DOG MADE ME DO IT, has been developed over the last few years and has been pitched at Film London PFM, Berlin Film Market and Galway Film Market. It’s scheduled to shoot in 2024. 

​

Ben has written and directed a cluster of successful comedy short films. His most recent, THE SNIP, stars Edinburgh Fringe winner Ciaran Dowd, alongside Sunil Patel and Rebecca Shorrocks. The film has already been selected for Bolton, Aesthetica, The Shortest Nights and Edmonton.

​

His film BLEEP stars Rebecca Shorrocks, Paul F. Taylor and Toby Williams. It premiered at Frightfest and has gone on to screen at Aesthetica, Cleveland, LSFF to name a few. 

​

His film TALK RADIO stars the hilarious Julia Deakin, Pearce Quigley and Tim Key and has screened at multiple BAFTA and OSCAR qualifying festivals such as Show Me Shorts, EncountersAesthetica and LSFF before finding a home on YouTube channel, Omeleto.

 

Ben has an online sitcom called ANGRY QUIZ GUY that stars Nick Helm, Rachel Stubbings and Amit Shah.

 

His film QUIET CARRIAGE starring Amit Shah and Emma Sidi has played at BAFTA and OSCAR qualifying festivals such as LOCO, Aesthetica, Aspen, Rhode Island,  LA Shorts, Norwich, Encounters and LSFF before finding a home online on SHORT-OF-THE-WEEK.

When not making films he's testing out new material on his unsuspecting wife, children, cat and dog whilst also grieving for his dead hamster, Rhino. 

​
